TOSCOLANO MADERNO - via vigole
The peaceful holiday setting along Via Vigole provides a relaxing base for enjoying the highlights and main tourist attractions of Lake Garda. In the neighbourhood, Toscolano-Maderno provides a variety of things to do and see. Linked towns, the more industrial Toscolano and neighbouring tourist-based Maderno offer a treasure trove of historical buildings, lovely shops and cafes to enjoy. The surrounding area is ideal for those who love walking, hiking, mountain biking, cycling and horse riding; with plenty of scenic hillside paths, steep tracks and woodland trails to discover (the months from May-October being the most suitable). The most popular trails are Montemaderno (for the panoramic lake views, Maclino village and surrounding olive groves, Monte Pizzocolo (for hiking and cycling), along the Toscolano River (cycling) or to Azzuro beach (where you can cycle to, before cooling off in the lake!). The nearby golf course of Bogliano is a must for golfing fans (with some of the best lake views out there), whilst those seeking to replenish the senses can enjoy an indulgent day of pampering at the beautiful ‘Residenza die Limoni’ spa. Other local places to explore include the 12th century church of St Andrea, the botanical garden of ‘G.E Ghirardi’ and the unique Valley of the Paper Mills (home to factory ruins and a very good museum). Toscolano-Maderno also offers a wonderful weekly market, each Thursday. For those seeking a spot of romance, the nearby ferry offers a service to Torri (on the eastern shore), where beautiful sunset views over Maderno can be enjoyed each evening. Maderno also boasts a lovely south facing lake beach with crystal clear water, perfect for snorkelling and swimming. Nearby Lungolago Zanardelli also offers local power boat and sailing boat hire for all abilities. It also provides the perfect spot for learning to sail.
